KARACHI: The tragic death of three-year-old Ibrahim, who fell into an open manhole near NIPA Chowrangi, has deeply saddened not only the city but also Pakistan’s entertainment community.

The young boy had gone shopping with his parents when he accidentally fell into the uncovered drain. After a 15-hour search, his body was recovered, and funeral prayers were offered before burial. The incident has raised serious concerns over the negligence of local authorities.

Prominent figures from the showbiz industry expressed grief and criticized the administration. Actor Ahsan Khan shared a photo of Ibrahim, writing: “We failed to provide the basic safety every child deserves. His innocence and helplessness reflect our collective failure. Ibrahim, forgive us.”

Actress Fatima Effendi criticized officials for their incompetence, stating that while millions are collected via e-challans, authorities fail to even cover manholes on busy roads.

Mahira Khan, after viewing the incident footage, commented: “A mother crying inconsolably for her child is heart-wrenching. Who is responsible for this accident? Such indifference is unbearable.”

Sajal Ali expressed similar sorrow, calling it a “heartbreaking incident” and questioning the accountability of the authorities responsible for Karachi’s safety. She added: “A city that supports millions of lives is being neglected when it comes to protection.”

Other celebrities also shared their condolences, expressing deep grief over the untimely death of little Ibrahim and urging authorities to ensure the safety of children in public spaces.
