Lahore Qalandars beats Multan Sultans by 20 runs

LAHORE: Lahore Qalandars secured a 20-run victory over Multan Sultans in a rain-affected match of the Pakistan Super League.

The match, played at Gaddafi Stadium, saw a delayed toss due to rain. After the delay, Multan Sultans won the toss and opted to field first. The game was reduced to 13 overs per side because of weather conditions.

Batting first, Lahore Qalandars posted a massive total of 185/5 in 13 overs. Muhammad Naeem led the charge with 60 runs, while Parvez Hossain contributed 45 runs. Abdullah Shafique added 33, and Sikandar Raza chipped in with 13 runs.

For Multan Sultans, Mohammad Ismail picked up two wickets.

In response to a target of 186, Multan Sultans managed 165/5 in their allotted 13 overs.

Captain Ashton Turner led the charge with 52 runs, while Shan Masood contributed 44. Arafat Minhas also added a valuable 25 runs.

For Lahore Qalandars, Mustafizur Rahman claimed two wickets to help seal the victory.

Fakhar Zaman appeals against two-match ban in PSL 11

LAHORE: Fakhar Zaman, a key batter for Lahore Qalandars in Pakistan Super League 11, has filed an appeal against his two-match suspension imposed over a ball-tampering incident.

The Pakistan Cricket Board had suspended Fakhar Zaman for two matches, citing a Level 3 breach of the code of conduct related to ball tampering.

According to PCB officials, the ban was imposed under the relevant article concerning ball manipulation during a match.

Sources indicate that the cricketer has now approached the PSL technical committee, challenging the decision and seeking relief from the suspension.

The incident was reported during the match between Lahore Qalandars and Karachi Kings, after which match referee Roshan Mahanama announced the verdict following a hearing.

ISLAMABAD: Captain Shaheen Shah Afridi hosted an Iftar dinner for his team, Lahore Qalandars, at his residence in Islamabad.

The gathering was attended by team owner Sameen Rana, along with all local squad members. Zimbabwean all-rounder Sikandar Raza and members of the team management were also present at the event.

The team had recently been participating in a three-day conditioning camp in Islamabad. However, the final day of the camp was disrupted due to rain in the city.

According to team sources, members of the Lahore Qalandars squad are scheduled to regroup in Lahore on March 23.
