Zardari, Shehbaz discuss Makkah pact and national security
ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a meeting at Aiwan-e-Sadr on Thursday and discussed key national issues, including the Makkah defence agreement, national security and ongoing efforts to eliminate terrorism.
The two leaders reviewed domestic and foreign affairs, the regional situation and counterterrorism operations during the meeting.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Senator Sherry Rehman and Punjab Assembly Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan also attended the meeting.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif congratulated President Zardari on Independence Day and briefed him on the agreement signed in Makkah between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkiye.
President Zardari expressed his best wishes for the effective implementation of the trilateral agreement and praised the efforts of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir.
The president and prime minister also paid tribute to the professional capabilities of Pakistan’s armed forces and law enforcement agencies and reaffirmed their resolve to completely eliminate terrorism from the country.
