Floods and heavy rains kill 23 in Thailand

BANGKOK: At least 23 people have died in Thailand due to heavy rains and flooding that began in mid-September, according to the country’s disaster management authorities.

More than 700,000 people have been affected in Bangkok, where several areas have experienced flooding, according to international media reports.

The disaster management agency said four of the 23 deaths were reported in Bangkok.

Flooding has affected several parts of the capital, with water still standing in some areas. Schools remained closed for a second day, while waterlogged roads and low-lying areas disrupted daily life.

Authorities have continued efforts to deal with the flooding and its impact on affected communities.
