Diljit Dosanjh says politics keeps him from visiting Lahore
NEW DELHI: Indian Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh said political tensions are the main reason he has not visited Lahore, telling fans that such a trip would likely spark criticism.
Speaking during an Instagram Live session on Tuesday to promote his upcoming European tour, Dosanjh responded to questions from fans, including one from a viewer in Lahore who invited him to visit the Pakistani city.
“No, brother. If I come to Lahore, I’ll face problems going to other places. You all know what’s happening in the world,” he said.
The singer added that politics was behind the situation and said he has always tried to stay away from political issues.
“It’s all a political game. I always stay away from politics,” Dosanjh said. “If I come to Lahore, I’ll receive a lot of criticism.”
His comments come amid continued political tensions between India and Pakistan, which have complicated cultural exchanges and cross-border performances by artists from both countries.
