Misbah Arshad crowned Miss Universe Pakistan 2026

ISLAMABAD: Misbah Arshad has been selected as Miss Universe Pakistan 2026 and will represent the country at the Miss Universe 2026 global competition in San Juan, Puerto Rico, on Nov. 24.

Arshad was crowned Miss Universe Pakistan 2026 at a ceremony held at the Rosal Park Hotel in Manila, Philippines.

She won the title after emerging victorious from a final field of 10 contestants.

Arshad is from Pakistan and has also lived in Islamabad. She currently resides in Munich, Germany, where she is studying psychology at the University of Hagen.

Born in 2000, Arshad gained recognition in beauty competitions in 2023. She previously won the Miss Pakistan World 2023 and Miss Aura Pakistan 2023 titles.

She will now represent Pakistan at the international Miss Universe 2026 competition in Puerto Rico.

KARACHI: A video of Pakistani showbiz stars Saba Qamar and Yasir Hussain dancing at a qawwali night has attracted widespread attention on social media, with users reacting both positively and critically to their performance.

The two actors were seen enjoying the music and participating enthusiastically in the gathering, appearing relaxed as they danced to the qawwali performances.

The atmosphere became particularly lively when the iconic Sufi qawwali “Tere Bin Nahi Lagda Dil Mera Dholna,” associated with legendary singer Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, was performed. The soulful rendition added to the mood of the evening as guests enjoyed the performance.

Qamar attended the event wearing a deep maroon maxi, while Hussain opted for a traditional black eastern outfit. The two appeared to participate in the event in a casual and cheerful manner.

The venue was also decorated for the occasion, with hundreds of small white lights covering the ceiling to create a starry-sky effect. Soft golden lighting and floral arrangements further enhanced the setting.

The video, shared on social media, drew praise from some users for Qamar and Hussain’s lively presence, spontaneity and apparent camaraderie. However, several other users criticized the pair over their dancing and the manner in which they appeared together in the viral clip.

Actress Shabnam recalls golden years of Pakistani cinema

DHAKA: Legendary actress Shabnam, who ruled the Pakistani film industry for decades, has said she has immense love for Pakistan and deeply misses the country.

Speaking from Dhaka after celebrating her 80th birthday, Shabnam said she received birthday wishes from fans and admirers around the world.

“I received immense love from Pakistan. What greater love could I have received than fans naming their daughters after me?” she said.

Shabnam said she had worked with all the leading heroes of her era and appeared most frequently opposite actor Nadeem.

‘I miss Pakistan very much’

Responding to a question about Pakistan, Shabnam said she missed the country greatly and wished she could “fly through the air” and reach Pakistan.

The veteran actress said she would consider returning to Pakistani cinema if she received a suitable film offer.

Shabnam has appeared in 160 films, including 152 Urdu, 14 Bengali and four Punjabi productions. Her on-screen pairing with Nadeem became one of the most successful and memorable duos in Pakistani cinema and remains popular among fans.
