Iranian leadership reacts strongly to Trump’s threat of intervention over protests
Tehran/Washington: Iranian leadership has issued a strong response to US President Donald Trump’s warning of American intervention in Iran in the event of violence against peaceful protesters.
Ali Shamkhani, adviser to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, warned that any interventionist hand moving toward Iran’s security would be cut off. In a statement posted on the social media platform X, Shamkhani said the Iranian nation is well aware of America’s past “rescue missions,” whether in Iraq, Afghanistan, or Gaza.
Meanwhile, Ali Larijani, Secretary of Iran’s National Security Council, also responded to President Trump’s remarks in an English-language post on X. He said that following recent statements by Trump and Israeli officials, behind-the-scenes activities have now become clear.
Larijani stressed that Iran clearly distinguishes between peaceful protesting traders and acts of unrest and agitation. He warned that U.S. interference in Iran’s internal affairs would destabilize the entire region and harm American interests.
He further cautioned that the American public should be aware that this adventurism was initiated by President Trump himself, and therefore they should remain mindful of the safety of U.S. troops.
The reaction follows President Trump’s statement on his Truth Social account, where he said that if Iran uses violence against peaceful demonstrators or kills them, the United States would intervene to protect them. Trump added that the U.S. is fully prepared to act to safeguard protesters.
