Karachi police seek FIA assistance in ‘Pinky’ case investigation

KARACHI: Karachi police have sought assistance from the Federal Investigation Agency for investigations into alleged money laundering and cybercrime links in the case involving arrested suspect Anmol alias Pinky.

According to officials, DIG South Karachi Asad Raza sent a formal letter to the FIA requesting technical support in the investigation.

Police said initial findings revealed that associates of the suspect allegedly conducted financial transactions through multiple bank accounts and received funds via various channels.

The letter stated that the suspects are believed to be involved in narcotics trafficking and suspicious financial transactions, adding that FIA assistance is required due to the cybercrime and banking transaction aspects of the case.

The DIG South also requested the deployment of FIA officers to assist in tracing banking transactions.

According to the letter, three cases have been registered against the suspect at Garden and Baghdadi police stations in Karachi, including investigations related to narcotics, illegal weapons and murder charges.

Karachi police transfer 20 officers as drug case investigation continues

KARACHI: Police authorities in Karachi have transferred 20 officers out of the city’s South District as part of an ongoing investigation linked to a narcotics case involving a suspect known as Anmol, also called Pinky.

According to police officials, the officers had been posted for extended periods at several police stations in the district and were identified as being involved in alleged misconduct, anti-social activities and violations of departmental discipline.

Authorities said some of the officers repeatedly used influence to secure postings at specific stations in District South.

Earlier, two officials from the Counter Terrorism Department were taken into custody over alleged contacts with the suspect.

CTD sources said the detained officers included Assistant Sub-Inspector Kafeel and a constable identified as Ali, who were allegedly in communication with Pinky.

Suspect involved in hacking and blackmailing women held by Karachi Police

KARACHI: Karachi police have apprehended a man accused of hacking women’s phones and extorting them for financial gain.

According to police details, the suspect, identified as Sameer Khan, would send malicious links to women, gain access to their mobile phones and social media accounts, and obtain their contact numbers. He then used WhatsApp calls and messages to lure the victims.

Following the hacking, Sameer Khan allegedly enticed and threatened women to meet him, recording videos during these encounters. He later threatened to release these videos publicly unless the victims paid him, thereby committing sexual harassment and extortion.

Investigations revealed that the suspect had successfully extorted money from multiple women. Police recovered two mobile phones and several explicit videos from his possession.

Sameer Khan was arrested within the jurisdiction of Eidgah Police Station, and a case has been registered, with further investigations underway.
