KARACHI: Renowned Pakistani singer Hassan Jahangir has opened up about a major personal tragedy in his life, revealing that he raised his daughter alone after the death of his wife nearly three decades ago.
Hassan Jahangir, considered one of Pakistan’s legendary pop artists, began his music career in 1986 and remains active and popular even after almost 40 years in the industry.
Known for his energetic rock-star persona, he has often appeared cheerful and stylish in public while keeping his personal life largely private.
A few years ago, pictures from his daughter’s wedding went viral on social media, showing the singer alongside his daughter on her special day.
Recently appearing as a guest on a Ramadan transmission on a private television channel, Hassan Jahangir spoke publicly for the first time about the hardships he faced in his personal life.
The singer shared that he has only one daughter, whom he considers his entire world. He revealed that his wife passed away around 27 to 28 years ago when their daughter was very young.
After her death, he decided to devote all his attention to raising his daughter and chose not to remarry.
Hassan Jahangir added that his daughter is now married, lives in Sweden and works as a doctor.
He also acknowledged the support of his mother and sisters, who helped him raise his daughter during those difficult years.
According to the singer, his daughter now encourages him to remarry so that he does not have to live alone.
