LAHORE: Senior journalist, intellectual and founder of Urdu Digest Altaf Hassan Qureshi passed away, his family confirmed on Saturday.
According to his son Kamran Altaf, the funeral prayer will be offered tomorrow after Zuhr prayer at Jamia Ashrafia.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed sorrow over the demise and prayed for the departed soul, saying the loss has created a void in journalism that may never be filled.
Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal also expressed grief, saying the late journalist left a deep impact on journalism, intellectual discourse and national dialogue.
He said Qureshi was a beacon of journalistic integrity who enriched the profession with his writings, intellectual insight and ideological clarity, and served as a role model for young journalists.
Former Jamaat-e-Islami chief Siraj-ul-Haq also condoled the death, saying he made valuable contributions to journalism, thought and the promotion of national awareness.
