RAWALPINDI: Police have arrested five people, including the father and brother of TikToker Shamsu Bibi, also known as Ayesha Gulamna, in connection with her killing in Taxila, officials said Saturday.
SSP Operations Rawalpindi Tariq Mahboob said an initial investigation indicated that the woman was killed in the name of so-called honor. Further investigation is underway.
Police reviewed footage from more than 100 CCTV cameras and used human intelligence and other available resources to trace those allegedly involved in the killing.
The arrested suspects were identified as the victim’s father, Fazal; brother, Bashir; cousin, Ehsan; her father’s uncle, Rozi Khan; and her cousin’s son, Yaseen.
According to police, the investigation revealed that the victim’s father and brother allegedly planned the killing with other accomplices in their ancestral area of Lower Dir.
Mahboob said police would submit a charge sheet supported by evidence and seek appropriate punishment for the suspects.
