RAWALPINDI: Security forces killed seven militants in an intelligence-based operation in Hangu, while an Army captain was martyred during an intense exchange of fire, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.
According to the military’s media wing, the operation was conducted on August 7 after receiving intelligence about the presence of militants linked to Fitna al Khawarij in the area.
ISPR said security forces effectively targeted the militants’ hideout during the operation, killing seven terrorists.
A large quantity of weapons and ammunition was also recovered from the deceased militants, who were involved in several attacks against civilians.
The military’s media wing said Captain Hamza Ikram fought bravely and embraced martyrdom while leading his troops during the operation. He was actively pursuing the militants when he made the ultimate sacrifice.
ISPR added that a sanitisation operation was underway in the area to eliminate any remaining militants.
The statement said Pakistan’s counterterrorism campaign would continue with full determination, adding that the sacrifices of the country’s brave soldiers further strengthen the nation’s resolve to protect its people and ensure security.
Three militants killed in security operation in Balochistan
Security forces killed three militants during operations in Kambila and Asimabad areas of Balochistan, according to security sources.
The sources said search and sanitisation operations were conducted in the two areas, resulting in the clearance of around 68 square kilometres of territory.
During the operation, three militants linked to Fitna al Hindustan were killed, while the bodies of two of them were recovered from the site.
Security sources said four militants were also injured during the operation, including the group’s commander Shaukat Mama.
The forces also detained 12 suspects during the action and cleared militant hideouts in the area.
According to the sources, flags associated with Fitna al Hindustan were also removed during the operation, as security forces continued efforts to eliminate militant networks from the region.
