Bollywood actress Janhvi Kapoor has revealed that she faced severe emotional distress after discovering her manipulated images on an explicit website at a young age.
Speaking on a podcast, Kapoor said the incident occurred during her school years when she came across her photos on such platforms during an IT class.
She explained that the content was entirely fabricated and resembled deepfake material with no connection to reality. The experience, she added, exposed her early to the darker side of fame.
Kapoor questioned whether being a public figure means having to tolerate such unethical misuse of one’s image. She also raised concerns over the growing spread of AI-generated fake content on social media.
The actress said that doctored images and videos of her continue to circulate online, often being presented as real. She warned that even credible news platforms sometimes end up sharing such misleading content.
Highlighting the professional risks, Kapoor noted that such fabricated material could create challenges in her career, as filmmakers might use it to exert pressure or make unfair judgments.
