Court extends physical remand in alleged kidnapping and rape case

LAHORE: A local court on Wednesday extended by five days the physical remand of four men arrested in connection with the alleged kidnapping and rape of two foreign women, allowing police more time to continue their investigation.

The suspects — Raza Dar, Sikandar Khan, Hassan Raza and Sajid Ali — were produced before Judicial Magistrate Azhar Mahmood after the expiry of their previous remand.

During the hearing, prosecutors requested an additional nine days of police custody, saying investigators still needed to recover a laptop, a vehicle and a weapon allegedly linked to the case.

Lawyers representing Sikandar Khan and Sajid Ali argued that their clients had not been named in the original police complaint and were arrested later based on supplementary statements.

They denied the allegations and claimed the two men had been implicated while the principal suspect had not yet been brought before any court.

After hearing arguments from both sides, the court granted police a five-day extension of the suspects’ physical remand.

The allegations have not been proven in court, and the investigation is ongoing.

Karachi’s court grants physical remand of Pinky till May 22

KARACHI: A court in Karachi on Friday granted physical remand of drug suspect Anmol alias Pinky until May 22 in a narcotics case.

A judicial magistrate in Central district approved the remand after hearing arguments in the case registered against the accused.

In a separate proceeding, a judicial magistrate in Karachi South extended Pinky’s physical remand by two more days in a murder case and ordered her to be produced again on Monday. The court also granted judicial remand in 13 other cases registered in South district.

Meanwhile, a Malir court sent the accused to jail on judicial remand in a case registered at Sachal police station and directed the investigating officer to submit a challan within 14 days. The prosecution said it would challenge the court’s decision.

During court appearances, the suspect was brought with her face covered. She alleged police torture and claimed that false cases were registered against her, adding that she was brought from Lahore to Karachi on the orders of her ex-husband.

Investigating officers told the court that the accused was “highly skilled” and repeatedly changing statements. They said data recovered from her phone contained over 800 contacts and revealed transactions worth millions of rupees.

Police further alleged that her identity card had been blocked and that she had been using SIMs obtained on other people’s names, adding that further arrests of her alleged facilitators and riders were required and seeking further remand.

Drug Dealer Anmol alias Pinky granted three-day physical remand

KARACHI: Deputy Inspector General (South) Asad Raza said on Wednesday that alleged drug dealer Anmol alias Pinky has been granted a three-day physical remand by a judicial magistrate in Karachi.

According to the DIG South, the court had rejected the police request for physical remand a day earlier. However, the suspect was produced again before the Judicial Magistrate (South), where police renewed their request.

The court subsequently approved a three-day physical remand, after which police took the suspect into custody for further investigation.

Police sources said authorities have also compiled details of previous cases registered against Anmol alias Pinky.

The suspect was arrested by Garden Police during an operation in Karachi. According to police, cocaine and other narcotics worth millions of rupees were recovered from her possession.

On the other hand, Police have registered an additional case against alleged drug dealer Anmol alias Pinky after a pistol was reportedly recovered from her possession during her arrest in Karachi’s Garden West area.

According to the First Information Report (FIR), the suspect was unable to produce a valid license for the weapon.

Anmol alias Pinky was arrested from a flat in a residential building in Garden. Following media reports about the arrest, the property owner reportedly asked for the apartment to be vacated.

A family residing at the address mentioned in the FIR said they have been living in the flat as tenants for the past eight years and do not know the suspect.

The family questioned how their home address was included in the police report and said the apparent error has caused them significant mental distress.

Earlier, Garden Police claimed to have recovered a pistol, cocaine worth millions of rupees, chemicals, and other narcotics from the suspect.

Police said Anmol alias Pinky was wanted in 10 cases and had allegedly been operating a citywide drug trafficking and supply network.

Investigators alleged that she used online platforms to arrange narcotics deliveries through designated riders, including female couriers.
