Mumbai: Popular singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh has dismissed speculation about entering politics, stating that he is content with his career in the entertainment industry and prefers to continue entertaining audiences.
According to Indian media reports, Diljit was recently urged by a group of civil society members, including retired officials and former military personnel, to become a “new face” of politics in Punjab. The initiative was reportedly led by retired bureaucrat S.S. Boparai.
However, the actor firmly rejected the suggestion, saying he has no interest in politics.
“Never. My job is to do entertainment. I am very happy in my field. Thank you,” Diljit said in response.
He also remarked that he often faces criticism and allegations wherever he goes, hinting at the pressures that public figures face beyond their professional work.
Fans of the star welcomed his decision, with many expressing that stepping into politics could have diverted him from his artistic identity and successful entertainment career.
