KARACHI: Emerging Pakistani influencer Kashaf Ali has described mobile phones as a “fitnah” of the modern era, highlighting their negative impact on mental health and social life.
Kashaf Ali first gained widespread attention by exposing a harasser on social media, drawing the focus of thousands of followers. Recently, she appeared on a podcast to discuss various social issues, where her candid views on mobile phones and social media surprised many.
Speaking on the podcast, she stated that social media has placed Generation Z under immense pressure, with young people often judging their self-worth based on likes and dislikes on their posts. “This addiction has now affected almost everyone,” she added.
Kashaf Ali emphasized that mobile phones have increased isolation, with people glued to screens for hours. She noted that the habit is not limited to youth; even older adults, including her own parents, spend significant time scrolling on their devices.
Despite being an influencer herself, she admitted, “In my opinion, mobile phones have become more harmful than beneficial for humans.”
Her remarks sparked conversation online about the societal and psychological consequences of excessive phone and social media use, urging individuals to reflect on their digital habits.
