Iran’s Ambassador to the United Nations, Amir Saeid Iravani, has said that more than 1,300 Iranian civilians have been killed in attacks carried out by the United States and Israel.
In a statement, the Iranian envoy said that a total of 9,669 civilian sites have been destroyed in the attacks so far. According to him, the damaged locations include 7,943 residential homes.
Iravani added that civilian facilities and residential areas had also been targeted during the strikes.
The Iranian ambassador further confirmed that four Iranian diplomats were killed in an Israeli airstrike in Beirut, the capital of Lebanon.
In an emergency letter addressed to António Guterres as well as the presidents of the United Nations Security Council and the United Nations General Assembly, Iravani said the diplomats were killed on March 8 when Israel targeted a hotel in Beirut.
According to Iranian media, those killed in the strike included the embassy’s second and third secretaries, a military attaché, and a military mission officer.
