Security forces kill 34 militants in operations across KP and Balochistan

RAWALPINDI: Security forces have killed 34 militants in multiple operations conducted in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The military’s media wing said operations against what it described as Indian-backed proxy groups were intensified in recent days based on intelligence reports.

According to ISPR, on February 24, four separate engagements were carried out in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, resulting in the killing of 26 militants linked to the banned outfit referred to as “Fitna al-Khawarij.”

An infiltration attempt near Hasan Khel in North Waziristan was foiled, where one militant was killed. The deceased was identified as an Afghan national.

In Lakki Marwat, three militants were killed during an intelligence-based operation following an exchange of fire.

In the Narmi Khel area of Bannu, 10 militants were killed in two separate encounters.

In Mir Ali, North Waziristan, security forces eliminated 12 militants.

ISPR further stated that eight militants affiliated with what it termed “Fitna al-Hindustan” were killed during a clash in the Sambaza area of Zhob, Balochistan.

The military reiterated its commitment to continuing operations against militant groups to ensure peace and stability in the country.

Lt Col among two security personnel martyred in Bannu IBO: ISPR

RAWALPINDI: A Lieutenant Colonel and a soldier of the Pakistan Army were martyred in a suicide attack targeting a security forces convoy in Bannu, the military’s media wing said.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), security forces had received intelligence about a vehicle-borne suicide bomber and were conducting an operation in the area based on the tip-off.

During the operation, troops traced militants identified as “Fitna al-Khawarij.” A suicide bomber traveling in a vehicle was intercepted in time by the leading contingent.

In desperation, the attackers rammed an explosives-laden vehicle into one of the security vehicles, resulting in the martyrdom of Lieutenant Colonel Shehzada Gulfraz and Sepoy Karamat Shah.

ISPR stated that five militants were killed during the ensuing exchange, and the timely action of security forces prevented a major tragedy in Bannu city, foiling the terrorists’ plan to target innocent civilians and personnel.

The military further noted that despite the sanctity of the holy month, militants continue cross-border terrorist activities from Afghanistan into Pakistan. ISPR said such actions demonstrate that the attackers have no connection with Islamic teachings.

It added that the Afghan Taliban government has failed to prevent its soil from being used for terrorist activities against Pakistan.

Reaffirming its resolve, ISPR said Pakistan will continue indiscriminate operations against militants under the counterterrorism drive “Azm-e-Istehkam,” emphasizing that the sacrifices of brave soldiers further strengthen the nation’s unwavering commitment to peace and stability.

Security forces kill 24 terrorists in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa IBOs

RAWALPINDI: Security forces in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa successfully neutralized 24 terrorists during two separate operations on February 4 and 5, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The militants, affiliated with Indian-backed proxy group Fitna al-Khawarij, were targeted in coordinated actions in the Orakzai and Khyber districts.

In Orakzai, security forces conducted an operation based on intelligence reports, striking militant hideouts. During intense gunfights, 14 terrorists were killed.

In a separate operation in Khyber district, 10 more terrorists were killed following an exchange of fire with security personnel.

The ISPR confirmed that search operations continue against other Indian-supported militants in the region. The clearance operations aim to eliminate all remaining terrorist elements, ensuring long-term stability.

The operations are part of the Pakistan Army’s anti-terrorism campaign “Vision Azm-e-Istiqamat”, reflecting a decisive crackdown on Indian-backed terrorism across the province.

COAS stresses strong, public-friendly police as key to internal security

RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir on Tuesday emphasized that a strong and people-oriented police force is crucial for maintaining internal security.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Field Marshal Asim Munir visited the National Police Academy in Islamabad, where he met with officers of the Police Service of Pakistan and engaged in discussions on law enforcement and internal security.

The Federal Minister of Interior and Minister of State for Interior were also present during the visit.

Field Marshal Asim Munir was warmly received by the Commandant of the National Police Academy and was presented with a Guard of Honour by a disciplined police contingent. He paid tribute to police martyrs by laying flowers and reciting Fatiha at the Police Martyrs’ Memorial.

Highlighting the sacrifices of police personnel in the fight against terrorism, crime, and security challenges, Field Marshal Munir addressed IGPs, Additional IGPs, and senior officers, emphasizing the importance of inter-agency cooperation and modern policing techniques.

He stressed that public trust forms the foundation of law enforcement agencies. “A strong and people-friendly police is indispensable for internal security. Enforcement of law and order is the sacred trust of the police,” he said.

Field Marshal Munir also assured that the armed forces will always stand shoulder to shoulder with the Pakistan Police in maintaining law, order, and public safety.

Security forces kill 13 Indian-backed terrorists in KP operations

RAWALPINDI: Security forces eliminated 13 members of the Indian-backed militant group Fitna Al Khwarij in two separate operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), in reported presence of khwarij, an intelligence based operation was conducted by the security forces in Bannu District on 13-14 January 2026.

During the conduct of operation, own troops effectively engaged the khwarij location and after an intense fire exchange, eight khwarij were sent to hell.

Another intelligence based operation was conducted by Security forces in Kurram District. In ensuing fire exchange, five khwarij were effectively neutralised.

Sanitization operations are being conducted to eliminate any other Indian sponsored kharji found in the area as relentless Counter Terrorism campaign under vision “Azm e Istehkam” (as approved by Federal Apex Committee on National Action Plan) by Security Forces and Law Enforcement Agencies of Pakistan will continue at full pace to wipe out menace of foreign sponsored and supported terrorism from the country.

Four India-backed terrorists killed in Kalat IBO: ISPR

RAWALPINDI: Four terrorists were killed as security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation in Kalat district of Balochistan, the military’s media wing ISPR said on Tuesday.

According to the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), security forces conducted an intelligence based operation in Kalat District of Balochistan, on reported presence of terrorists belonging to Indian proxy, Fitna al Hindustan.

During the conduct of operation, own forces effectively engaged the terrorists’ location, and after an intense fire exchange, four Indian sponsored terrorists were sent to hell.

Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the terrorists, who remained actively involved in numerous terrorist activities in the area.

Sanitization operations are being conducted to eliminate any other Indian sponsored terrorist found in the area. Ex-ISI chief Faiz Hameed receives 14 years rigorous imprisonment

RAWALPINDI: A Field General Court Martial has sentenced ex-ISI chief Lieutenant General (Retd) Faiz Hameed to 14 years of rigorous imprisonment.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), On August 12, 2024, process of Field General Court Martial was initiated against Mr. Faiz Hameed, formerly Lieutenant General under provisions of Pakistan Army Act spreading over 15 months.

The accused was tried on four charges related to engaging in political activities, violation of Official Secret Act detrimental to safety and interest of the State, misuse of authority & government resources and causing wrongful loss to persons.

After lengthy and laborious legal proceedings, accused has been found guilty on all charges and sentenced to 14 years rigorous imprisonment by the Court which has been promulgated on 11 December 2025.

The Field General Court Martial complied with all legal provisions. The accused was afforded with all legal rights including rights of defence team of his choice. The convict has the right of appeal at relevant forum.

Involvement of convict in fomenting vested political agitation and instability in cahoots with political elements and in certain other matters is separately being dealt with.

Security forces kill nine terrorists in separate operations in KP

RAWALPINDI: The security forces conducted two successful operations in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, eliminating nine Indian-supported terrorists involved in militant activities.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the first operation took place in Tank district, where intelligence-based action targeted a hideout of the banned group Fitna al-Khawarij.

In a heavy exchange of fire, seven terrorists were killed, and weapons and ammunition were recovered from the site.

In the second operation in Lakki Marwat, security forces acted on intelligence reports against the same militant group. A gunfight ensued, resulting in the deaths of two more terrorists.

The ISPR confirmed that the eliminated terrorists were involved in terrorist activities and stressed that clearance operations will continue in affected areas until militancy is completely eradicated from the country.

President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, and Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi lauded the security forces for their timely actions and professionalism.

They praised the forces for thwarting the terrorists’ plans and reaffirmed their commitment to supporting peace and stability in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The officials emphasized that the security forces’ courage and expertise are instrumental in dismantling terrorist networks and ensuring long-term security in the region.

President Zardari addresses 27th National Security Workshop

ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari visited the National Defence University (NDU), where he addressed participants of the 27th National Security Workshop.

According to Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), the workshop was attended by parliamentarians, senior civil and military officers, as well as representatives from academic and social sectors.

The President congratulated the participants on completing the workshop and appreciated their dedication to raising awareness on national security issues.

ISPR stated that the National Security Workshop is one of the prominent platforms for promoting dialogue and plays a key role in enabling Pakistan to effectively tackle current security challenges.

The workshop also strengthens institutional capacity and contributes to enhancing national strategy for the country’s security.

During the event, President Zardari emphasized the importance of informed leadership, national unity, and coordinated policy-making, and awarded certificates to the graduating participants.

Security forces eliminate 23 India-backed terrorists in Kurram

RAWALPINDI: Security forces eliminated 23 members of the Indian-sponsored Fitna al-Khawarij outfit in various operations across Kurram district.

According to the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), on 19 November 2025, twenty three khwarij belonging to Indian Proxy Fitna Al Khwarij were killed in two separate engagements in Kurram District, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province.

On reported presence of Khwarij, a targeted operation was conducted by the security forces. During the conduct of operation, own troops effectively engaged the khwarij location and after an intense fire exchange, twelve khwarij were sent to hell.

Capitalising on intelligence with respect to presence of another group of khwarij, in same general area, in another intelligence based operation, own troops successfully neutralized eleven more khwarij.
