ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday inaugurated the Victory Monument (Yadgar e Fatah) in Islamabad, built to commemorate Pakistan’s major victory in the “Battle of Truth.”
Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir were also present at the inauguration ceremony.
Senate Chairman Yousaf Raza Gilani, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and Defense Minister Khawaja Asif attended the event along with other senior officials.
Contingents from the armed forces and civil armed forces participated in the ceremony, along with representatives from Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Police contingents from Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan also took part in the ceremony.
The event was attended by the services chiefs, federal ministers and foreign diplomats stationed in Islamabad.
