MUMBAI: Bollywood veteran Amitabh Bachchan has praised Shah Rukh Khan for his ability to face difficult situations and keep moving forward.

The comments came during a recent episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati Season 18, while Bachchan was speaking with actor Rajkummar Rao.

Rao recalled his early years in Mumbai and spoke about how Shah Rukh Khan’s journey from Delhi’s middle class to Bollywood inspired him. He said he had admired Shah Rukh Khan’s career, having seen him make his way into the film industry through theater and television.

NEW DELHI: Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan may be known for his acting, dancing and iconic dialogue delivery, but singing was apparently not among his strengths during his school days, according to an old friend.

Singer Palaash Sen, who studied at St. Columba’s School in New Delhi and was a year senior to Khan, recalled their friendship and revealed the actor was not particularly good at singing.

Speaking in an interview with a YouTube channel, Sen said he and Khan were close friends at school and often took part in sports, debates, quizzes and other extracurricular activities.

Sen said Khan appeared to be talented in many areas but struggled with singing. As a result, Sen would sometimes sing on Khan’s behalf during school events.

Recalling one particular musical programme, Sen said Khan was supposed to perform a role that involved singing. Since Khan could not sing, Sen stood backstage and provided the vocals while Khan performed on stage.

Sen described Khan as one of his closest friends from his school days and said their friendship was particularly strong at the time.

The singer’s recollections offer fans a glimpse into a lesser-known side of Khan’s early years, long before he became one of Indian cinema’s biggest stars.

Khan is currently preparing for his upcoming film “King,” which is scheduled to be released in cinemas on Dec. 24.

CANBERRA: Australia’s Home Affairs, Immigration and Citizenship Minister Tony Burke has said that Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan is his favourite actor, describing himself as a big fan of the Indian film icon.

Speaking on an Indian podcast, Burke revealed that his all-time favourite Bollywood film is Om Shanti Om, starring Shah Rukh Khan.

During the conversation, hosted by Poon Luthra, the minister was asked about his favourite Bollywood movies, to which he first expressed admiration for Shah Rukh Khan’s work.

He also praised world-renowned composer A. R. Rahman, saying he particularly enjoys his musical soundtracks.

Among his favourite films, Burke ranked Chak De! India at the top, noting that it was shot in Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane, making it personally special for him.

He also appreciated historical drama Jodhaa Akbar, but ultimately named Om Shanti Om as his favourite.

Released in 2007 and directed by Farah Khan, Om Shanti Om starred Shah Rukh Khan alongside Deepika Padukone and became one of the highest-grossing films of its year.
