President Trump announces end of Strait of Hormuz blockade

WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump announced that the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz has been lifted, while insisting that Iran must agree never to possess nuclear weapons or an atomic bomb.

In a post on the social media platform Truth Social, Trump said the Strait of Hormuz should be fully reopened immediately and remain free of tolls or restrictions to ensure uninterrupted maritime traffic.

The US president stated that any naval mines present in the sea would be eliminated, claiming that American forces had already destroyed several mines using advanced minesweeper technology, while Iran would remove or destroy the remaining explosives.

Trump added that ships delayed due to the blockade could now resume passage through the strategic waterway.

Discussing Iran’s nuclear program, Trump claimed that Iranian nuclear material was buried deep beneath collapsed mountains following B-2 bomber strikes carried out 11 months ago.

He said the United States would extract the Iranian nuclear residue from underground and claimed that both the U.S. and China possess the technical capability to carry out the operation.

According to Trump, the process would be conducted in coordination with Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), after which the recovered nuclear material would be destroyed.

In his latest remarks, President Trump said he believes Iran will stop uranium enrichment “100 percent” and give up any attempt to acquire nuclear weapons capability.

The U.S. president also stated that the United States would secure Iran’s nuclear waste and emphasized that work on a possible agreement with Tehran must move quickly, although no rushed decision would be made.

Trump said that despite the ongoing blockade, Washington would not act hastily regarding Iran and confirmed that direct contacts had taken place with Iranian officials during the negotiations.

Referring to his comments from the previous day, Trump said the United States had achieved a major military success and that he felt no pressure or frustration over the Iran issue.

He reiterated his claim that the United States would achieve a “complete victory” regarding Iran and suggested that resolving the dispute could lead to lower global oil prices.

President Trump insists on US role in Iran leadership transition

Trump described Mojtaba Khamenei as a weak personality and said the United States wants to see a leader in Iran who can bring harmony and peace to the country.

He added that he must be part of the process of selecting Iran’s next leadership, similar to what he claimed happened in Venezuela.

He further warned that Washington would not accept any new Iranian leader who continues the policies of the current leadership.

Trump emphasized the board’s security objectives in Gaza, warning that Hamas must disarm or face destruction.

He highlighted the role of former British Prime Minister Tony Blair as a key contributor to the board’s efforts and expressed optimism about the success of peace initiatives in the region.

“I have successfully stopped eight wars, prevented conflict between nuclear powers Pakistan and India, and worked to make the world safer,” Trump said, while also noting his willingness to engage in dialogue with Iran.

Additional participants include Argentina, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Hungary, Kosovo, Morocco, and Vietnam. During the Davos session, Russian President Vladimir Putin thanked Trump for the invitation and expressed willingness to contribute $1 billion to support global stability, affirming Russia’s cooperation in international peace efforts.

US prepares to expand travel ban list from 19 to over 30 countries

The United States is preparing to increase the number of countries subject to travel restrictions from 19 to more than 30.

Kristi Noem, Secretary of the US Department of Homeland Security, told American television that President Trump is reviewing which additional countries may be added to the list, without specifying any names.

Earlier this month, it was reported that the Trump administration had blocked all immigration applications, including green cards and citizenship processes, from 19 non-European countries due to national security and public safety concerns.

According to Reuters, these restrictions apply to individuals from countries that were already facing partial travel bans in June.

The list includes Afghanistan, Burma, Chad, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, and Yemen, which were subjected to the strictest restrictions in June, including near-total entry bans with some exceptions.

Other countries facing partial bans in June, which may now see expanded restrictions, include Burundi, Cuba, Laos, Sierra Leone, Togo, Turkmenistan, and Venezuela.

President Trump designates Saudi Arabia as major non-NATO ally

President Trump hosted a dinner at the White House in honour of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. High-profile guests, including Elon Musk and Cristiano Ronaldo, also attended the event.

The US President approved a major defence package under which Saudi Arabia will purchase F-35 fighter jets and 300 tanks from the United States.

Welcoming the Crown Prince, President Trump said Saudi Arabia and the United States share a long-standing and historic partnership, which both sides are committed to further strengthening. He said the two countries had signed a strategic defence agreement during the visit.

President Trump added that the Middle East was closer than ever to achieving lasting peace, claiming that Gaza was now “far safer than before.” He said several heads of state would be part of the upcoming “Gaza Board of Peace.”

He also stated that Hamas had handed over additional bodies of hostages to Israeli families.

Following Trump’s remarks, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman thanked the US President for the warm hospitality and said Riyadh greatly values its relationship with Washington.

The Crown Prince is currently on an official visit to the United States, during which he held talks with President Trump at the White House.

A statement issued later by the White House said that Washington and Riyadh had reached an agreement on a civil nuclear cooperation framework.

According to the statement, President Trump has approved a major arms package for Saudi Arabia, which includes the supply of advanced F-35 fighter aircraft, while the Kingdom will also acquire nearly 300 tanks from the US.

US submits revised resolution to UNSC for Gaza Stability Force

UNITED NATIONS: The United States has presented a revised resolution to the UN Security Council proposing the establishment of a Gaza Stability Force.

Under the US-drafted resolution, the force would be overseen by a Board of Peace, chaired by President Trump. The board is tasked with monitoring economic recovery programs in Gaza and supervising efforts to disarm non-state actors through various subsidiary bodies.

According to foreign media, the draft includes Trump’s comprehensive 20-point peace plan.

Last month, during President Trump’s visit to Egypt, an agreement was reached regarding Gaza’s administration, approving the transfer of governance to technocrats.

However, the Palestinian group Hamas insisted that Gaza’s management should remain under Palestinian technocrats.
